The move…

So you think you know someone and you think you are a good communicators and then you move…

…and the mirror goes up and what reflects is that you are not as good as you thought. But in those moments, you try harder and you get better.

On this particular move we were fortunate or unfortunate to have the luxury of moving in phases. I thought this sounded great in our planning! My house was rented from 12/1-1/1 so I needed to get in there and get everything I needed out. Problem was that I only had a two day break to make that happen! A long 48 hours later with only 8 or so total hours of sleep I mostly cleared out my house with what I needed. The remaining stuff went into one bedroom that is now locked (and a disaster)!Ā  The interesting part is that I took about half of my kitchen stuff and there was still enough for a full kitchen! You collect a lot of stuff over 13 years in a house and more roommates than you can keep track of!

Cars loaded and trailer full we head to Shawn’s. Where most of my stuff stayed in the garage until we could move it into the APT.Ā  Simultaneously my (pain in the ass) warehouse space still lingering from my Jleer days was winding down. So we also had to get everything out of there! Shelves, desks etc. At this point things are pretty stressful.Ā  We are contemplating buying a trailer because uhaul was on speed dial! So clear my house, clear the warehouse, and next is Shawn’s house. Which we thought would be the easiest but turns out he had a lot more than we thought. So we go through his whole kitchen and at this point I have been cleaning and moving for almost two weeks. And managing running a full time company, and teaching part time! Not to mention the fur faces and making sure my BnBers are happy. Whew…not sure how I made it! And not a lot of wine was involved because sleep was already hard to come by! So we get through Shawn’s house and start taking loads, and then more loads, and then more loads. I think I did three car loads in my car by myself. Then Shawn’s car and the multiple trailer loads. I think you get the point! Not easy! But we made it. Ā Our APT is adorable and we are so comfortable here. Ā I will eventually post how we thrifted our way to three furnished homes!

The best part of this whole process is that we agreed…when we move again…we are hiring movers!
