I was completely surprised by the town area of Blue Ridge, GA.  We arrived around lunch time and the town was busy with foot traffic.  It was a quant street with the most adorable shop fronts.  Such a cute little “Whistle Stop” town.   We didn’t really have a plan so we just went for it!

Our first stop was at a Black Bear Bier Garten.  We were initially attracted to the funniest sign in the window.   With this sense of humor I knew this would be a good spot.   The homemade pretzel was amazing.  I had a pumpkin beer that was perfection.

Next we stumbled upon one of the nicest Olive Oil shops.  We did an amazing tasting tour of the store.  Our tour guide had worked up all of these combinations of olive oils and balsamic vinegars.  Some of my favorites were the Coffee flavored oil, the truffle oil, and the cayenne pepper oil.  I am trying to remember some of the combinations but am coming up short.  I did end up purchasing the aged balsamic because it was like having an awakening with wine.  It was the best I have ever tried!

From there we visited a few shops for souvenirs.  They were your typical outfitter shops and general mast type of stores.  Then we were thirsty again so we figured we had the local beer…why not try the local wine!  The Vine offered us a nice selection of wines.  The local one we drank was pretty good.  Again…lesson learned that I need to take better notes or pictures because I can not remember the name!  They did give us complimentary chocolates that had jolly ranchers mixed in.  It was surprising delicious.

After we left Blue Ridge we headed through the back roads of Georgia to our shabby $6 million dollar house that we were staying at for my friends Carolynn’s birthday.  We spent the rest of our weekend there and it was AWESOME!  All in all…Blue Ridge was charming, current, bustling, and quant.  I would make this a whistle stop if you are ever driving through this area of Georgia!
