Ahh…Mother’s Day! What a better way to start the month of May than by giving your Mother a new nickname!!! So imagine this….girl goes to parents home to drop of fury dependents for the weekend…girl can not find anyone but the radio is blaring, cell phones charging, food being prepared! Girl finally finds mother in back yard…all a fluster and yelling “keep the dogs inside!” Girl..startled…ask “what in the world?” Mother replies…”We just shot a raccoon!” Girl’s first thought/question…”How the heck did you shoot it?” Mother replies…”My shot gun!” Girl’s jaw immediately hits floor and once hinged back in…she replies…”Since when do you have a shot gun??” Mother replies…”Since we moved out here in the sticks.” Girl laughs internally because Mother and Father live less than 2 miles from city line, so close in fact that she runs past the “City Limits” sign on a short training run!
Fast forward 4 days to Figure 8 island…yes 4 short days! Same, said Mother is in charge of feeding rental beach house kitty population. Signs on the fridge state that there are 3 cats to be fed twice a day. Mother takes note and only can account for 2 cats at most of the feedings. Mother gets very excited and states…”OH finally the 3rd kitty cat has shown up!” Mother then lets a startled scream out and excitedly says…”That is not a cat it is a bleeping RACCOON!!!!” Girl immediately thinks…”Coon Whisperer! They find her!”
Actual pictures of said raccoon!
So in celebration of Mother’s Day this weekend… I have to give a huge shout out to my lovely Mother…Map! She continues to surprise and amaze me in so many ways! This is just a small example of how she keeps us all on our toes, keeps us (and wildlife) inline, and keeps us laughing, happy, and healthy (no rabies here)!! I LOVE you MOM and I CAN NOT WAIT to CELEBRATE another wonderful MOTHER’S DAY with you! You are truly one of a kind!
PS. I must note that I have stated many times in this blog about my bleeding heart for all animals…coons included! I have a very liberal…live and let live thought process! The case is that Coon #1 was fishing in the Koi pond. He/She was also injured. I feel good that Coon #1 probably had the best meal of it life before it passed! I think I may be able to write a legit book one day titled…”That really happened!”
