Day 20: Nicknames
Ha..todays topic made me chuckle!! Most people do not know that Carly is actually a nickname. I guess you could call it a legal nickname if that exists. I have had a couple credit cards that state Carly as my first name. In my family I was the first born and started the 4th generation of women living. My mom and dad decided to name me after my two great grandmothers…the one that was living Elizabeth (my middle name) and the other that was deceased named Carolyn (my first name). So picture this…they get me home and try to start using my name and it just didn’t work. My dad was calling me, Booga, Booger, and all kinds of other gross nicknames! Way to go Yarrb! So my mom being the smart one she is says…we need to find a nickname that works and stick with that. I have heard that they test drove a couple of different names before settling on Carly. Also my mom claims that it had nothing to do with Carly Simon, but Iets be honest, Map is still obsessed with Carly Simon! All in all I have to say that I like my nickname…it fits me…and I can’t imagine being called anything else! Well Carlsbad, Carl, Carlycakes, Harley, CDawg, Crazy Carly McCraken, iCarly, or any other variations make work too!
