Blackboard with the text: God Always Gives His Best to Those WhoChristmas truly is a miracle.  I know the ultimate reason for the season and let me tell you the big guy is at work.  Just had a wonderful phone call with Samuel in which I found out that he graduated from high school.  That is right folks!  This troubled, lost, partially deaf, boy has graduated high school at the age of 16!  I am speechless…which is bad for blogging so I will pick up my jaw and go on.

This journey he is on is moving at a fast pace.  I would be re-missed to hide that I am nervous about his return.  I hope that I can keep up the momentum that the NCBA has started.  I pray that the foundation they have been building the last 12 months is strong enough to transition back to our home/life here in Charlotte.  Let’s be honest! What I am going to do with a 16 year old that has already graduated from high school?!   We have a plan…a plan A…and a plan B.  Both are solid plans but both require that Sam functions at a certain level of maturity.

I pray constantly that God will show me what the right plan is for both of us.  He has done a great job so far!  This past year has proven to be very positive for both of us.  I thought Sam coming to live with me would change me the most, turns out giving him up affected me equally as much.  Now he is coming back and my life has changed in some amazing ways.  I have fallen into a rhythm of life without him and now he is coming back and that rhythm will once again change.  Good thing I am comfortable with change!  One thing I do know for sure is that as hard as Sam and I have been tested…I feel that we have always made each other’s lives better.

Along with graduating from high school this week he also received the news that he will be moving up in the program to a blue shirt.  What this means for him is that he moves into a room with a roommate.  He gets extended privileges such as longer phone calls, longer overnight visits, more freedom around campus.  He takes a leadership role with his peers.  And most importantly it signifies that he has a relationship with the Lord.  A relationship that he feels comfortable sharing, that he feels comfortable enough leaning on in times of need, and comfortable enough to let it lead him to the next chapter.

God always give his best to those who leave the choice with him.  I am not sure why I even worry about what the future holds.  I am working to be diligent, leaving all the choices to Him and pray for the best!

PS.  We captioned this photo…short people in the middle 🙂

Merry Christmas everyone!  Here is to an amazing 2016!
