If you are reading this on my personal blog then you probably can tell that I am an ecommerce fan. It is a common theme in my life and career. Most of my experience building ecommerce sites was on the Shopify platform. I have been set up as a Shopify expert (now partner) since 2012! So to listen to how Brandon thinks about building an ecommerce software product for businesses was such a treat for me. Blending my entrepreneurial service brain with all the amazing products I have been able to build in my career comes together in Brandon Chu.
I loved to hear Brandon talk through his writing process and to hear that his writing take 40+ hours to prepare made me realize that maybe I am not doing this right! But alas this writing challenge is about creating a habit. His writing is GOOD! Really good. As a manager of PMs I absolutely love this visual on management style. I always say that I am a mentor and while that may be true in a lot of ways — an investor really nails what this relationship should work like.

Brandon feels that writing has provided an umatched return on investment and while his post list is short the impact and value added is hugh. I would one day love to be a product manager at Shopify and I loved Brandon’s advice that every PM should have a side hustle at some point. I often feel that my side projects feed and add value to my full time work. Not every company shares this view but I always say — like waiting tables or working retail, everyone should be an entrepreneur at some point in their lives. The empathy and understanding is abundant. Thanks for all the good reminders Lenny and Brandon!
