A few months ago I had a chance encounter at 7th Street Public Market, drinking a cup of Not Just Coffee while meeting with my Roaring Riot team and 704 Shop.  Shameless local plugs above but all of these companies are doing it right!

thanksgiveupA confident, bearded, young man stopped to introduce himself to Scott from 704 Shop.  He quickly explained that he had just started a non-profit to help people with additions called CLTivate.  My ears immediately perked up and something took over and I completely butted into their conversation.  I gave him my card and received an email a few hours later.  I quickly volunteered to help Zack with his website and also merchandising ideas since a lot of his marketing and fundraising efforts are based on the sale of the merchandise.  We are just getting started but I am so proud of all that Zack has accomplished, specifically his sobriety and faith.

A few weeks ago he sent an idea over to our team and I knew right away that I would participate and it only took a few minutes to realize what I need to #thanksgiveup.  Here is the premise…

“This campaign is serious business. A major key to sobriety is the concept of “Giving Up”. It’s about giving your addiction over to God. That’s where the miracle starts to happen. As we enter this season of Thanksgiving, and we start to transition into 2017, we want to challenge you to accomplish something big.”

Here are the rules…

1) During November, leading up to Thanksgiving weekend, identify something in your life that’s distracting you from achieving your goals.
2) Make a decision to give it to God for the month of December.
3) You’re highly encouraged to make a donation to CLTIVATE.
4) Get active on Instagram, and post something about your journey every day in December, if possible.
5) If you’re able, we invite you to join us on Saturday, January 7th for a 3 mile run/walk to celebrate the New Year.

I have been digging deep on what I am purging from my life.  Check back tomorrow to see what it is that I am going to give up.  And my plan is not only give this up this month but for the rest of my life!  Thank you Zack for the challenge, for your dedication to this cause, and for your reminder to always put God first.  #thanksgiveup
