The SEG (Southern Entrepreneurial Girl’s) perspective…

Being in a new relationship can be exciting and fun.  Now trying to be in a relationship,  175 miles apart, with full time jobs, full time families and full time lives.  Sounds super fun and easy right? Well I can not lie it has been exciting!   And I can not be more honored that our stars aligned and fate stepped in and Justin and I met in September and have been “getting to know each other” ever since, as he likes to say.

Justin had the idea to strengthen our bond and common love for travel when he suggested that we challenge ourselves to go to the oldest bar in each state.  He already had the list of 50! Of course I had to take is a step further and suggest that no matter what city we visit we find the oldest bar or tavern and experience all they have to offer.  He then shocked me a bit when he suggested that we blog about our experiences!  For those reading this that know me you know how rare it is that I am caught off guard…well I will never forget that moment because he made my jaw drop…

The name came naturally after a good back and forth brainstorming session.  Again all the credit goes to Justin!  I had chided him about always saying something amazing, followed by  “If we get there…” From my point of view he was dooming us before we have really even gotten started.  From his…he was keeping it real.  So in an ironic twist (which I am sure will not be the last) it became the perfect name for our adventure in travel blogging.

I do not doubt that we will bring a good mix of humor (me) and serious critiquing (him) of the locations we travel to.   Hopefully it will bring us closer to each other and teach us things we would not normally learn.  I can only imaging the adventures we are going to be embarking on and I can only imagine “When we get there…”  how great it is going to be.

The BCM (Blue Collared Mountaineer’s) perspective…

I have to say Carly’s intro is hard to top and just about dead on. I’m not going to even try, but for those getting to know me must learn I’m getting ready to throw down my two cents. I’m looking forward to these adventures with Carly…beer, new relationship, traveling, hiking, football games, etc. Did I mention beer?  You get the point….
A “new” relationship in every aspect but with some mileage in-between and yeah this time I thought why not blog about it? And that’s why I mentioned it to Carly. She is an excellent blogger and I have no idea of what the hell I’m doing but I think it will be a pretty cool way to reflect.
If we get there! She really does hate it when I say that, but for me it’s away to keep things at a comfortable pace. I’m not going into that any deeper because we’re not there yet!  We have had a couple adventures already, or as we refer to them…marathon dates. We are just a little late getting this thing going but here we are. Going forward we will each blog our own perspective, side by side, and break down our experiences at old breweries, taverns, restaurants, and travel time.
Neither one of us are brew masters or head chefs, but we know what we like and we hope you all tune in to see what happens when this Blue Collared Mountaineer travels with a Entrepreneurial Southern Girl.  I’ll let Carly give you guys the intro to the first trip after all she will be the only person I will know there, or should I say getting to know….
**Stay tuned for our first travel blog after our trip to Blue Ridge, GA to celebrate the fabulous Carolynn Fay’s day of birth.
