This blog takes me in many different directions. I guess that is the whole point of blogging is exploring and discussing. So I wanted to take an opportunity to introduce the next chapter in my career and business. I have always felt a calling to help people that reached out to me for advice, strategy or just a simple pep talk. I will never say NO to an opportunity to meet with someone.
These meet ups typically would go like this… we would have coffee, and talk about business, challenges, successes, and ideas. Every single time I walked away motivated and raring to go, hoping the other person was as well! In one of my meetings I was asked if I could help…not just talk about ways to help…but actually implement the ideas I was giving. I will never forget that meeting because something clicked and I believe that it will be the time that my company and career once again go a different direction. After a few brainstorming sessions of my own and making sure my team was on board…Gardner Brand Services is born!
The best news about this change is that today is really the first time I am personally putting anything on social media about GBS and already we have some amazing clients! One of which I would like to talk about here and let you know how much they mean to me! One of our companies on going goals will be to volunteer our services for non-profit or charity groups in our community. Good Friends of Charlotte was the perfect group to partner with as we get started! Good Friends is a non-profit organization comprised of women representing different cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds who are committed to raising monies to financially assist individuals who are disadvantaged in Charlotte, NC (Mecklenburg County). I love their call to action statement…
Sounds to simple right?! An hour of charity…a year of giving…but it really is that simple! I became a member a few years ago (which means I pay a small membership fee and attend lunch once a year…yep that is it), and I never saw that there would be a day when Good Friends would step in to help me! But they did…they sent Sam to camp this summer and we could not be more grateful for their help. I was asked to speak about this in a video that we made for the event this year. I say…camp is not life saving, but it is life changing. And this was so true in Sam’s case!
